The Full Story
About Me
I graduated medical school as an inaugural member of the Midwestern University Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine class of 2000. I have completed training in both Emergency and Family Medicine and have over 22 years of medical experience across the United States and the world.

I have witnessed many changes in medicine over my career. While we have advanced greatly in pharmaceutical science and medical technology, we have gone backward in terms of the doctor-patient relationship. I grew tired of working harder to appease insurance company requirements that force doctors to spend more time documenting than giving care.

My mission is to create a clinic that offers affordable medical care for the public - especially the uninsured - as well as exclusive services for members who want to take their health and wellbeing to the next level. To bring the doctor-patient relationship out from behind the computer screen and back to the center of care where it belongs. I look forward to your company along the way.
What is Direct Primary Care?
Direct Primary Care (DPC) is an affordable, insurance-free option for most of your holistic Primary and Urgent Care needs. Whether you have insurance or not, in the DPC model MOST patients pay a monthly fee and contract DIRECTLY with their doctor for access - no need to go through a third party. In many ways, this is like a club membership - just more valuable to your health! It’s simple with no middlemen and no hidden fees, no bills in the mail, and most importantly, no insurance company to tell you what you can and can't get!

What if you aren't a member? You can still be seen at this clinic and pay as you go, but you don't have access to all the member benefits that include:
-
Virtually unlimited office visits
-
Virtually unlimited urgent care
-
Primary Care appointments are relaxed and typically 30-60min in length
-
Same or next day care visits are the norm
-
Convenient and direct access to your doctor, even after hours
-
Optional telehealth visits
-
House-calls and infusions available (added cost applies)
Appointments for members are relaxed and unhurried, giving us the opportunity to really get to know one another, and you can call or text me directly when you need me, even after hours. Not only is this convenient, but it also allows me to help you with many straightforward concerns that don't require a visit. All care provided by me is included in your monthly membership fee, even if you have to come several times in a month.
If you have insurance, you’re still able to use it to cover referrals and out-of-office testing. If you don't have insurance, no worries, as I am always updating a directory of the most affordable cash-pay options in town.

Because DPC is an insurance-free care option, I don’t have all the overhead associated with offices that depend on insurance. This allows me to offer holistic Primary and Urgent Care customized to you and your specific needs, as well as spend time with you instead of doing paperwork. I like to think of it as old-fashioned care with a modern approach!
Other advantages of my clinic include:
-
All-inclusive, monthly rate ($200 month)
-
Group discounts for small businesses available
-
Focus on wellness and prevention
-
Upfront, transparent pricing, with no hidden fees and no bills in the mail
-
Discounted cash pay prices for many common prescriptions and tests for uninsured

Isn't this how medicine is supposed to be?
Does DPC Cost More?
Absolutely not! I, like other direct primary care (DPC) doctors, make a great deal of effort to provide affordable healthcare solutions for my patients. Statistically speaking, the cost of a DPC membership + a high deductible car accident/cancer/catastrophe (“3C’s”) insurance plan often adds up to LESS money spent out-of-pocket than the premiums, deductibles, and co-pays for most insurance plans.

Current research also provides evidence to show that direct primary care (DPC) saves patients money. In 2015, Colorado-based DigitalGlobe partnered with a Colorado direct primary care medical provider to do a research (case) study investigating ways of reducing insurance costs for the company. DigitalGlobe enrolled 205 of its 971 Colorado-based employees into Nextera’s DPC program. Over a seven-month study period, DigitalGlobe employees saw a 25.4% drop in per-member/per-month costs!

Central to the promise of reducing healthcare costs, DPC clinics provide increased facetime with doctors, resulting in more efficient and thorough doctor-patient relationships, with a unique and in-depth focus on holistic, preventive care. This can clearly be noted in the average length of a patient’s visit: DPC physicians’ visit times with patients average 30 minutes (can sometimes go up to 60 minutes!) versus the typical 12-15 minutes at a traditional primary care provider. This is likely due to a 40% reduction in administrative costs, as surveys show that almost half of traditional primary care doctors spend one-third of their day on data entry and at least one-half of a patient’s visit inputting data into a computer.
